Navigating a new diagnosis can be very overwhelming. It can be hard to know what to do next, who to reach out to, and how to navigate supports and services. MDA’s Next Steps Seminar: Newly Diagnosed Pediatrics is aimed at helping parents/caregivers of newly diagnosed children identify next steps in their journey. The seminar will cover key topics such as early intervention and K-12 education, insurance and waivers, social/emotional well-being, durable medical equipment, home modifications and more. Participants will also receive a Medical Roadmap to help navigate next steps following a neuromuscular disease diagnosis. Family panel discussions, and Q&A sessions with doctors and experts in various fields will also be offered. Participants will receive a welcome kit with educational materials to support their learning, as well as links to pre-recorded presentations to watch before the live sessions. The live sessions will be held virtually each evening from 5:00 PM ET until approximately 7:00 PM ET.
This program is provided at no cost, but registration is required, and space is limited. Parents/caregivers of children who have received a diagnosis within the last two years are especially encouraged to participate.
All Next Steps Seminar attendees must be a member of MDA to participate. By completing this registration form, you and your child will be automatically registered as a member with MDA. There is no fee associated with your MDA membership. For more information, please visit mda.org/join-mda.
