MDA Virtual Learning Research and Care: Updates in Stem Cell Research for DMD
November 19th, 2026
2:00 – 3:00 PM ET
Live, Virtual Webinar
Join MDA for an informative webinar exploring the latest advances in stem cell research for Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD). Researchers are investigating new ways to harness muscle stem cells to support muscle regeneration and address the underlying biological processes that contribute to progressive muscle loss in DMD. Whether you're a patient, caregiver, or advocate, this webinar will provide an accessible overview of where the field stands today, what researchers have learned, and what these advances may mean for the future of DMD treatment.
What We’ll Cover:
- The role of muscle stem cells and progenitor cells in muscle growth, repair, and regeneration
- Current research challenges, opportunities, and the path from laboratory studies to clinical trials
- What these developments may mean for the future of muscle regeneration and DMD care
- Live Q&A with the presenters
Meet Our Presenters:
- Rita Perlingeiro, PhD, University of Minnesota
Dr. Perlingeiro is the Lillehei Professor of Stem Cell and Regenerative Cardiovascular Medicine at the University of Minnesota Medical School.
- April Pyle, PhD
Dr. Pyle is a Professor in the Department of Microbiology, Immunology and Molecular Genetics, and a member of the Eli and Edythe Broad Center of Regenerative Medicine and Stem Cell Research (BSCRC) at UCLA.
- Michael A. Rudnicki, OC, PhD, FRS, FRSC
