Activity Overview:

The MDA Medical Education team has partnered with Dr. Leigh Ramos-Platt from Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, Dr. Robert Baloh from Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center, and Dr. Nivedita Jerath from AdventHealth Medical Group Orlando to create a detailed presentation discussing the multiple aspects to reducing barriers to clinical trial participation. These slides will help physicians to learn more about identification of eligible patients for clinical trials, patient recruitment for clinical trials, and potential solutions to reducing barriers from different institutional perspectives.

Learning Objectives:
  • Identify the barriers and facilitators that influence patient participation in clinical trials
  • Develop means to overcome barriers and capitalize on facilitators to maximize trial recruitment
  • Reduce communication gaps when informing patients about clinical trial opportunities
