Former MDA President and CEO Gerald C. Weinberg Dies
The following statement is in response to the passing of former MDA President and CEO Gerald C. Weinberg on Tuesday, May 23, 2017. Jerry, who was 87 years old, was an integral member of the organization for 54 years, having helped launch MDA, advance MDA's life-saving mission and the Labor Day Telethon into national prominence. He served as President and CEO from 2006 – 2011.
Statement:
Following is a statement issued by MDA Chairman of the Board R. Rodney Howell, M.D.:
“The MDA family mourns the loss of former MDA President and CEO Jerry Weinberg. He was a key figure in helping MDA gain national prominence through our Labor Day Telethon, which laid the groundwork for so many of the drugs, therapies and services available to MDA families today. We extend our deepest condolences to his family and are forever grateful for his many contributions.”
