More than 100 Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen Restaurants Unite in "Appetite for a Cure" Campaign to support the Muscular Dystrophy Association
Major restaurant industry franchise provides 15th year of indefatigable support for Muscular Dystrophy Association
CHICAGO, Jan. 28, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- Sailormen, Inc., one of the largest domestic franchisees of Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen restaurants, begins the 15th annual "Appetite for a Cure" campaign today that will raise funds for the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) to help transform the lives of kids and adults living with muscular dystrophy, ALS and related neuromuscular diseases.
Sailormen/Popeyes restaurants in Florida and Georgia invite patrons to purchase $1 coupon cards worth over $50 to be used toward free and discounted purchases during a future visit. The coupon book program will run now through Sunday, March 17th with more than 100 participating locations.
"Popeyes customers' and employees' efforts to raise funds during the 'Appetite for a Cure' campaign allow MDA to provide the kids and adults we serve with the critical resources and support they need to grow stronger and live longer," said Joanne Boigris, Executive Director. "Their dedication empowers these individuals by providing funds for groundbreaking research, MDA Care Centers, life-changing summer camps and support programs. We are grateful for their generosity and inspired by their continued support."
Last year, the "Appetite for a Cure" campaign and the 14th annual MDA Sailormen Inc./Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen Golf Classic totaled a record-breaking $1,007,789 to help provide those with neuromuscular diseases with lifesaving research and support.
"Sailormen is honored to again partner with MDA to give strength and independence to kids and adults living with life-threatening neuromuscular diseases and ALS," said Kara Nordstrom, CEO of Sailormen, Inc. "With the help of our strong communities, we are supporting scientific and clinical research to transform the lives of individuals living with neuromuscular diseases. By adding a $1 'Appetite for a Cure' coupon card to your Sailormen/Popeyes order today, you can help us reach that goal."
The annual coupon program provides Sailormen/Popeyes customers with great discounts while benefiting MDA's mission to find research breakthroughs across diseases; care for individuals impacted from day one; and empower families with services and support in hometowns across America.
Proceeds raised help provide MDA families with life-enhancing programs such as state-of-the-art support groups and multidisciplinary care centers at top medical institutions and investments in scientific research. Donations also give hundreds of children across Florida and Georgia the opportunity to experience MDA Summer Camp, where they're able to gain life skills and independence, while being surrounded by their peers, at no cost to their families.
Sailormen, Inc. is one of the largest domestic franchisees of Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen restaurants, with 105 locations in two states. The company has raised more than $7 million for MDA since 2002.
MDA is committed to transforming the lives of people affected by muscular dystrophy, ALS and related neuromuscular diseases. We do this through innovations in science and innovations in care. As the largest source of funding for neuromuscular disease research outside of the federal government, MDA has committed more than $1 billion since our inception to accelerate the discovery of therapies and cures. Research we have supported is directly linked to life-changing therapies across multiple neuromuscular diseases. MDA's MOVR is the first and only data hub that aggregates clinical, genetic and patient reported data for multiple neuromuscular diseases to improve health outcomes and accelerate drug development. MDA supports the largest network of multidisciplinary clinics providing best in class care at more than 150 of the nation's top medical institutions. Our Resource Center serves the community with one-on-one specialized support, and we offer educational conferences, events, and materials for families and healthcare providers. Each year thousands of children and young adults learn vital life skills and gain independence at summer camp and through recreational programs, at no cost to families.
