The conference will focus on better understanding disease causes, identifying new therapeutic targets and innovative technologies and discussing new advances in preclinical and clinical research — all aimed at accelerating drug development and targeted treatments for neuromuscular diseases.

Early-Bird Registration Date: Feb. 10, 2017

Registration Deadline: Feb. 28, 2017

Conference presentations and discussions will focus on the following areas:

  • Genetics, epigenetics and gene discovery
  • Approaches to precision medicine
  • Understanding nuclear membranes and protein misfolding/turnover
  • Gaining insights into channelopathies, dystrophin glycocomplex diseases, mitochondrial myopathies, repeat expansion diseases
  • Motor and peripheral neuron diseases, and
  • Clinical trials

“The MDA Scientific Conference brings researchers from all over the world together to share their data, to exchange ideas and to establish new ideas for moving forward and developing new research projects. It also helps us determine how to take the results from basic studies and start translating them into clinical endeavors. There are not many opportunities to bring so many people together at the same place to share ideas … and it really generates new ideas for how to bring new treatments into the clinic.”
— Jeffrey Chamberlain, University of Washington in Seattle and member of MDA’s Research Advisory Committee
