February Means Its Shamrocks Time

The nations largest St. Patricks Day charity-related fund-raiser is under way, with thousands of participating businesses selling $1 green and $5 gold shamrocks from now through St. Patricks Day to benefit MDA.

MDAs Shamrocks Against Dystrophy program, in its 21st year, will feature displays of millions of the shamrock mobiles in restaurants, stores and other businesses across the country.

Singer Maureen McGovern, an MDA Board member who also serves as chairperson of Shamrocks Against Dystrophy, encourages businesses and customers to participate in this program to help MDA find treatments and cures for neuromuscular diseases.

MDA Issues New Booklet on Myasthenic Diseases

"Facts About Myasthenia Gravis, Lambert-Eaton Syndrome and Congenital Myasthenic Syndrome" offers an updated, revised introduction to these diseases of the neuromuscular junction. A Spanish version of the 28-page pamphlet will soon be available.

Wings Over Wall Street attracted more than 1,200 visitors on Oct. 2. The third annual Big Apple gala evening raised more than $1 million for MDAs ALS research program.

The event was held at the New York Marriott Marquis in Times Square and was hosted by actor William Baldwin and co-hosted by singer Tony Orlando, an MDA national vice president.

Aboard the Costa Mediterranea, the cruise to the Caribbean will feature live performances by musical legend and MDA Vice President Orlando, along with comedy, illusionists, celebrity auctions and raffles. A portion of the ticket price, plus donations through sponsors and events onboard, will benefit MDA.
