Online games provide an alternate world in which to play, say gamers with neuromuscular diseases. Here’s a primer of terminology, gaming options, social tips and info on how playing may affect muscles. In addition, Kid Quest, page 69, provides Internet gaming safety tips for kids.

Telethon 2003 Soars to New Heights

MDAs 38th Jerry Lewis Labor Day Telethon was another record-breaker with $60.5 million in pledges and contributions more than $2 million over last years total.

Star Jerry Lewis led a team of dedicated performers and MDA representatives who kept tens of millions of viewers moved, informed and in a giving mood.

4-year-old Morgan Fritz of St. Louis and her parents were among the families who shared their message of thanks for MDAs help.
 
Anchor Ed McMahon kept the momentum going by announcing frequent tote board increases.


Maureen  
Telethon stalwart Maureen McGovern dazzled viewers with her beautiful voice.
 
MDA National Goodwill Ambassador Mattie Stepanek spoke to Jerry Lewis and the national audience via satellite from his home town of Baltimore.

 
MDA Youth Chairman Billy Gilman introduced youth sponsors and sang numbers from his "Music Through Heartsongs" album.

 
Kids in the live audience got a big treat when Bear left his Big Blue House and invited them to sing and dance.
 
Co-hosts Cynthia Garrett and Jann Carl introduced profiles and interviewed families served by MDA.
 
International Association of Fire Fighters President Harold Schaitberger encouraged a grateful Jerry Lewis. IAFFs donation of $18.3 million was the largest single amount ever raised for MDA by any organization.
