As part of ALS Awareness Month, MDA will host three special Internet chats with guest experts in topics relating to the disease.
"Research in ALS," Tuesday, May 13 at 1 p.m. ET. Guest experts are Sharon Hesterlee, MDA vice president of translational research, and John McCarty, principal scientist at the ALS Therapy Development Institute.
"Medical Management of ALS," Monday, May 19, at noon ET. Guest experts are clinic directors and neurologists Robert Miller of the Forbes Norris MDA/ALS Research Center in San Francisco and Carlayne Jackson of the MDA/ALS Center at University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio.
"The Family Dynamic," Wednesday, May 28, at 4 p.m. ET. This chat will emphasize caring for the caregiver, and talking about ALS with children. Guest experts are Rebecca Axline, outpatient social worker at the MDA/ALS Center at the Methodist Neurological Institute in Houston, and Danny Dandignac, known as "DannyD" when he co-hosts MDA's "Living with ALS" chat, who received a diagnosis of ALS in 2000.
