MADDEN, OUTBACK TO RAISE $1 MILLION FOR MDA
New PSA Campaign Materials Available Now
TUCSON, Ariz., November 8, 2007 — Legendary NFL coach and broadcaster John Madden has teamed up with Outback Steakhouse to raise $1 million to benefit the Muscular Dystrophy Association and the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
The program will be supported with new public service announcements featuring the “Sunday Night Football” analyst and can be viewed at www.mda.org/media/video_psa.html or ordered through MDA’s Public Information Department at publicinformation@mdausa.org.
The Outback Steakhouse Madden Miles campaign will earn money for every mile Madden travels to and from football games this season in his famed 45-foot-long ride known as the Outback Steakhouse Madden Cruiser. Outback Steakhouse will kick off the campaign's "Drive to a Million" with a $10 pledge for each of the more than 20,000 miles the cruiser will travel this season.
"I'm incredibly excited to have John Madden and Outback Steakhouse rallying football fans everywhere to team up and help 'my kids,'" said MDA National Chairman Jerry Lewis. "Madden Miles will raise public awareness and bring hope and help to the thousands of Americans -- kids and adults -- living with these muscle-wasting diseases."
Outback Steakhouse will host a Web site (www.outback.com/maddenmiles) where NFL fans can follow campaign progress and find information on purchasing tickets to Outback Steakhouse Madden Miles events and activities.
