2007 JERRY LEWIS MDA TELETHON

WHO: 

MDA National Chairman and Telethon star Jerry Lewis, joined by anchor Ed McMahon and co-hosts, Jann Carl, Tom Bergeron, Alison Sweeney, Tony Orlando, Billy Gilman, Norm Crosby, Bob Zany and the Muppets.  This year’s on-air talent includes Celine Dion, Montgomery Gentry, Christopher Meloni, Mariska Hargitay, Tony Danza, Ivanka Trump, John Madden, Vanessa L. Williams, Michael Urie, Ace Young, Bear in the Big Blue House, Commodores, George Wallace, John Tesh, Lance Burton, Louie Anderson, Maureen McGovern, Ronn Lucas, the casts of  Grease and Legally Blonde and much, much, more.

Thousands of business and community leaders, along with some 250,000 volunteers nationwide will appear on the Telethon or work behind the scenes of the marathon 21½-hour show.

WHAT:

The 42nd annual Jerry Lewis Labor Day Telethon to benefit the Muscular Dystrophy Association will feature profiles of and appearances by people affected by neuromuscular diseases and served by MDA, as well as medical and scientific research updates and top entertainment.

WHEN:

The network show airs from 9 p.m. ET Sunday, Sept. 2, to 6:30 p.m. ET Monday, Sept. 3. Broadcast times vary, so check local listings.

WHERE:

Originating from the new South Point Hotel, Casino & Spa in Las Vegas, with some live segments broadcast from New York and Chicago.

The Telethon reaches 40 million viewers in the United States and Canada via broadcasts from 190 television stations in MDA’s “Love Network.” The show also can be seen worldwide, thanks to Real Networks, on the Internet at www.mda.org.

In conjunction with the Telethon, thousands of grass-roots MDA fund-raising events will be held at shopping malls, civic centers, recreation facilities and other public gathering sites nationwide.

WHY:

To support MDA’s vital programs of research and services for children and adults with any of more than 40 neuromuscular diseases.
