Tributes from Friends of Ed McMahon
  • For as long as I can remember I have watched the Labor Day Telethon. I participated in many fund raising events over the years. But what really made me give to the MDA was the emotion and dedication of Jerry Lewis and Ed McMahon. Though I never met him, I cried and mourned his death and prayed for comfort for his family. I cannot immagine watching the telethon without him, but I will because that is what he would have wanted and he would have wanted this to be the best year ever in donations for the MDA kids. I will give and I hope the rest of the nation does the same in honor of Ed McMahon.

  • On behalf of all the MDA Telethon fans around the world we are crying outloud because of Ed McMahon's passing. I'm starting to cry as I type this very special note to you, Jerry Lewis, the host of the 2009 MDA Telethon. I want to send my prayers and support to you Jerry Lewis and the MDA family. Thanks for the awesome memories Ed McMahon! I really enjoyed watching Jerry and Ed together every year. If all of America can dig in their wallets and little piggy banks and get another $1 or $2, do it for Ed McMahon to celebrate his life! We'll see you soon on the Telethon, Jerry. Love You Jerry Lewis!

  • I met Ed at NBC in the 1960s when Johnny Carson was there. I worked at NBC and after eating lunch brown bagging it in Studio 6A or 6B where the Tonight Show was done ... ED opened the door for me. What a NICE MAN. A sweet loveable sidekick that was a wonderful person in his own right. Condolences to his Family, RIP ... Big ED.

  • To all who love you and got behind you, Ed. We will carry the torch of freedom for those affected by MD. This is America because of people like you and yours. I have admired you since childhood and some things never need to change. My family has several members with MD and it is because of your love that I am able to embrace this gifted family. All my heart to you and yours.

  • I was very saddened by the passing of Ed McMahon. He will be greatly missed. The Telethon with Jerry Lewis will go on, but it will be very difficult with Ed McMahon not there. This is for you Mr. McMahon. I know you will be watching the Telethon. We will need you to watch out for Jerry Lewis. The telethon will go on with Jerry, but with great dificulty. God Bless you Ed McMahon. My mother finally got to meet you. She loved you very much. I lost my mom OCT. 18 2007. You are with her now. May you both rest in peace.

  • Hello from Japan. OK, everyone, would everybody who has ever been hurt by Ed McMahon please raise their hands? Oh, come on, now. Don't be shy. There must be someone. No? How many people can you say you've watched for 50 years, since Who Do You Trust?, and never seen anything but charming, no matter what is going on around him, whatever unexpected occurrence threatens to screw things up. He was so professional on the telethon, even in his 80's, keeping the pace of presentations to Jerry moving efficiently forward. Did he ever make a mistake? Hard to remember any. What a kind and impressive man who entertained us for so long. I will miss him when I watch the telethon on my computer this year.

  • Jerry Lewis, I was sorry to hear that Ed McMahon had died. I was in Vinton, Iowa when I heard that your best friend, and your toteboard reminder on the telethon, had died. I never miss your telethon at all. The most of the time, I record your telethon. At the end of your telethon, when you start singing that one song you sing, I start to cry like a baby because I am happy to see how much money you raised that year.
