Tributes from Friends of Ed McMahon
  • I will miss Ed as well. I knew him well as a friend and colleague on the MDA Board of Directors. We had a business relationship as well. Ed was genuine, the "real deal". He will be missed most by those who knew him best.

  • Ed was truly a giant among men. His warmth, charm, sweet and kind personality, made him so special to so many of us. I have been a faithful supporter of MDA, of Jerry and of Ed for more years than I care to admit to. Ed will be sorely missed, and the best tribute we can give him is to make a donation in his name, so his efforts will continue to grow. May Ed rest in peace.

  • One of the funniest memories of ed on the telethon was when he came out on stage wearing pajamas, big fuzzy slippers, and holding a huge teddy bear.As someone who has been a long-time telethon volunteer,I will miss his predictions with the final toteboard totals as well.Mr McMahon was always very accurate with his predictions.I trust that much of this year's telethon will be in tribute to Ed and that past telethon highlights with Ed will be shown as well.

  • I can't recall a time since I was little that Ed McMahon wasn't a part of my life. I'd sneak staying up late to watch The Tonight Show with him and Johnny Carson, and every year, I faithfully watch the Jerry Lewis Telethon, laughing and crying as Ed and Jerry cut up while asking for donations to help Jerry's kids and defeat Muscular Dystrophy. Now, Ed is gone, but his memory will live on...and I hope that this year during Telethon that people will donate a little extra in Ed's name. I'm sure he would be so happy if that happened. Rest in peace, Ed. And say hi to Johnny, Michael and Farrah for us!

    Much love,

  • The MDA family has once again lost a very important person. Mr. McMahon has joined the many heavenly angels which he supported for many years. The telethon will sure be different this year without him. However, the show must still go on. We all now that he would tell us to raise one dollar more than last year. My sympathy goes out to his family and extended MDA family. We truly were blessed that he cared so much about MDA. Thank you to his family for lending him to us for all these years. Just remember Jerry, he will always be in the hearts of all the families he touched and supported!

  • Ed reminded me a lot of my father whom I lost in 2008. Ed had a lot of great qualities: caring, genuine, funny, truthful, and kind. Telethon 2009 will be difficult without our dear friend but I know that even though Ed will not be there in physical form, his spirit will be with us all. I extend my condolences to Ed's family, my hero Jerry Lewis, and to all of us in the MDA family. Let's get that one dollar more in 2009 and make a miracle happen. Let's do it for Ed this year.

  • I know that the hit Labor Day show will never be the same without McMahon and of course the loss of the king of pop and entertaininment powerhouse legend, Michael Jackson. The one I will be happy for is that Ed and Johnny will together in heaven.

  • We were in Los Angeles on Thanksgiving week and on Wednesday, November 27, 1985, we were at the NBC Burbank studios taping the Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson and we saw Ed McMahon. It was the highlight of ourtrip. To Jerry, I will miss your sidekick and our hearts and prayers go out to his family.

    Love, Alan Katzer
  • I remember Mr. McMahon very fondly at the tender age of 12 years old that's when I started the tradition of watching him with Jerry. I know that he will be forever in the hearts of all those he touched with his own life. I will miss him dearly along with millions of others who have grown to love him even though we have never met him personally.

    Thank You, Christi L Hysell
