  • As a local telethon emcee, I had the opportunity to sit and talk with Ed, and was amazed at how easy and approachable he was, always with a smile and a firm handshake, and he sincerely cared about what we were doing on the local level to raise money for Jerry. I've met many of the celebrities that give of their time to help Jerry's kids, but none more gracious than Ed McMahon.

  • My own involvement with the MDA of Canada over 37 years was always made more enjoyable due to the presence of the 'Jerry and Ed' team on the international portion of the Telethon. I also remember many nights of insomnia, being made more bearable with Ed's contribution to the Tonight Show! If entry to heaven could be earned by good works, a tender heart, and unbridled generosity, Ed is there!! My heartfelt prayers and empathy go out to Ed's family and friends, not the least of whom is Jerry himself. Keep up the good fight, Jerry...we are with you around the world!

  • I will truly miss Mr. McMahon on the MDA Telethon this year. He visited the John Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore and I met him. He was a great man to talk to about MDA. May he be with God in heaven always. I love him and Jerry.

  • All the years I have volunteered at the Telethon, I could always count on Mr. McMahon to keep me entertained at all hours during my shift specially during the overnight shift when I was the only one there taking calls. This year will be tough especially at 3 a.m.

  • I think Ed McMahon paired together with Jerry was just as important as Ed being with Johnny Carson for so long having great chemistry together. Ed seemed indestructible and it will seem strange watching the telethon without him but he would want his efforts and work continued and will very much be there in spirit. We all owe Ed special thanks for all of the laughter and entertainment he gave us for so many years.

  • Ed made the Tonight Show better just by his presence, and he also made the telethon better every year as he became a bigger part of it. The world is a better place because he was in it. Rest in peace.

    Love,

  • With sincere condelences to the McMahon family. Ed McMahon was the perfect fit for late night television, and Johnny Carson was much better with him than without him. His durable and dependable voice, even in illness, set the stage for the annual MDA telethon and kept it lit, even when he was away during his breaks. Seeing Jerry without Ed will be like H2 without the O. But we'll be there for the kids again.

  • My condolences to the family of a great servant of people with muscular dystrophy, Mr. Ed McMahon! It will be a very different telethon this year without Ed McMahon standing there on the stage with his smile and his great announcers voice. He stayed awake for many years of telethons to keep everyone going, even if we were getting sleepy. As a little girl with muscular dystrophy, I went door to door with my family collecting money to bring to the telethon and then came to my local TV station to turn in the money. Then we would stay to volunteer to answer phones or stuff envelopes even late into the night. I will encourage everyone including myself to give that one extra dollar this year in memory of Ed McMahon. Ed, you will live on in all our hearts forever! God Bless you Ed McMahon and thank you for your years of service to MDA and to all of us who are not only Jerry's Kids but also in a way Ed's kids as well!
