Tributes from Friends of Ed McMahon
  • As soon as I heard of Ed's Passing I also thought of Jerry, I've been watching the MDA Telethon since I came to Canada at the age of 9 in 1974. I never miss it,I've been married for almost 23yrs now and have 5 children, we all watch it together till all hours of the night and then again in the a.m., usually the TV watches us as we sleep. Ed you will be missed by so many, your bright smile your sincere words as you spoke will always be remembered with positive thoughts and lots of love. May you be in Heaven watching over all of us and I'm sure you'll always be by Jerry's side and his kids, you are their Angel Ed, rest in peace. Sending loving from my whole family to Ed's Family, Jerry and all of Jerry's Kids. God Bless!

  • Ed was the definition of dedication. He was certainly dedicated to the work and needs of MDA. Ed was dedicated to his work and career. That dedication included opening doors for many other talented performers through The Tonight Show, Star Search and other venues. Ed was also always ready with stories that were fun and educational. I had the honor of hosting Ed on my radio show several times. Each time he brought different stories and memories to share. Thank you Ed. You'll be missed but loved forever.

  • I enjoyed you on the Tonight Show and on the telethon. My condolences go to Jerry Lewis and Doc Severnson from the tonight show. He is in heaven with Johnny Carson, Skitch Hendrickson from the old tonight show. Ed will be missed by this fan. HI-HO my friend.

  • Throughout my lifetime, he was always there. Before I learned to read, he was there. In the mornings of my childhood, gameshows I could begin to understand, he was there. On Thanksgiving Day at the Macy's Parade, he was there. Up late when I couldn't sleep and later on when I had to watch in order to fall asleep, he was there. Introducing new talent, offering products and services and hoping he'd come over to hand me a check for a million dollars, he was there. Each Labor Day for the kids - our kids and all the kids of the world, he was there. He has never not been there, until now. But the joy he gave for all the years he was here will always keep him here. God bless him and keep him - we did for eighty six years.

  • When I heard Ed McMahon had passed, I immediatly thought of Jerry Lewis. How on earth will Jerry and the MDA Telethon be without their rock, Big Ed. I have watched the telethon as far back as 1970's, except when I have had to work, I record it to watch later. I loved the comedy between Jerry and Ed. Ed always knew when to go to the tote board. This year the telethon without Ed will be felt all over the Love Network, but I am sure his spirit will be there.

  • I lost my infant daughter Tracy in 1977 and my beloved wife Christine in 2006 to Myotonic Dystrophy. Ed was the "bright star" burning in the darkness that I felt after losing them both. His dedication and "heart" in what he was doing for MDA will be sorely missed. My wife and daughter will greet him in heaven.

  • I've been watching the Telethon for many years. Ed and Jerry were great together. Ed will be truly missed. He always made me cry when he would predict the numbers on the toteboard.I thank him for his dedication to MDA. He was a good man and I will think about him every time the toteboard changes.....
