profess -- All of you that have been Diagnosed with MD, you are the strongest people that i have ever met, my friend has DMD, and he keeps his head high despite he can't do what we can, he is a trooper, I try to help him all that i can, we are starting a fundraiser for MDA, and it is going to be great, it will be at our school

sweelz -- I've got a question for anyone who might be able to help. We are looking into a wheelchair for my husband, any advice?
profess -- I try, my motto for our friendship is ,"I am not his hero, he is mine, that's what makes us inseprable",we are not related by blood, but it couldn't make usd any closer

sweelz -- it's a stander, we thought we would try that seeings he still walks. Getting to the standind position is hard.
ken-t -- that or a jazzie, but like snail suggested, find one that will fit him and is not too low
sweelz -- my husband has BMD, he turned 51 last week

snailbee -- sweelz, a store tried to talk me out of a chair that rises and i could never of done it without my chair lift.
ken-t -- well mine did for a while then it got to hard for me, so i went with the one i have now
sweelz -- we've had the permobile at our house, seems to be good, but I don't know anything about wheelchairs

royla -- stander sounds good, permobil is spendiest chair around
hen -- can your husband push himself up to get out of the w/c sweelz
royla -- i've only had invacare chairs, do good

profess -- yeah, my friend has a trax and he is good with it!(invacare)
sweelz -- he would need a seat that lifts him up high enough or he wouldn't be able to get off of it.
royla -- i've only heard one person have constant repair on a permobil, but not sure how representive that case was.
profess -- this one costs $20,000
ken-t -- go to Activeforever.com sweelz, you will be able to find the cushion lift there
sweelz -- the cost of the stander is twice the one that the seat elevates. we are not sure it's worth that. $33,389 vs, $15,000

coffee4me56 -- Many contractures, affects the heart but he is fortunate that it has not affected his heart yet.
