hen -- well it took about 7 months for mine and i got back pay from when i aplied
elliebedelia -- I will be applying for ssi real soon also and i know that everyone is treated differently sometimes it can take many yrs but don`t get discouraged

coll -- shouldn't take too long pink-if they're complete--ye if you find a reliable pca,awesome help
marg -- Hen, I am ok. Had a mishap last week and tore a calf muscle. Can walk ok now if I am very careful.

marg -- MDA here got me one last year. I got a Pride and the provider that MDA works with here accepted the 2000 as paid in full eeven though the Scooter was 2200
cher -- but I have a nice healthy husband who would be doing the transporting
coll -- i see pooh--my caregivers seem to do enough as it is w/out doing the assembling

pooh-bear -- its not a problem coll.. once you have done it enough and they also have carriers for them
coll -- just so time consuming-seems to me--I love my power chair and van lift-zip right in
cher -- I am just considering one as I am getting so annoyed at not being able to keep up with my family anymore
marg -- Very happy cher. This is my second Pride scooter. DH looked at many brands and there was a lot about the Pride that he felt was better than others in the same price range.
pooh-bear -- no its not time consuming..at all..we did that for a few years before we purchased our van...
coll -- cher have you seen mini jazzy? I used to have one--so comfy and raised up and down--med assistance helped with it
monie -- cher, i sure put it off and wish now i would of gotten one a couple of years ago. i've about ran the wheels off of this thing

coll -- one other thing about scooters is having to hold your arms up for so long--I had trouble with that
pooh-bear -- my scooter is a solo with a power seat and I love my scooter....never had any issues with my scooter and I have had the same scooter for 5 years
cher -- our kids are 11 nad 14 and keeping up with them is getting so much harder, it's ridiculous how long it takes me to walk anywhere
marg -- My old scooter I am still using in the yard. DH keeps it in working order. It had some major problems that was from normal wear and tear of 8 years use.WE don't trust it to go away from home anymore.
coll -- oh cher-you will love whatever you choose--INDEPENDENCE DAY!
pooh-bear -- cher I would advise getting an evaluation done to see if your needs are all met with purchasing a scooter..

pooh-bear -- they store the wc as well as any other sort of chairs with the luggage..and when you deploy they have whatever it is waiting for you
pooh-bear -- my batteries have never been replaced...since we bought my scooter 5 years ago

cher -- WOW, I am impressed then, I thought they'd need replacing sooner than that!

marg -- My scooters are use hard except in the winter. I recharge them both every other day. In the winter when they aren't used much, Dh runs the batteries down by propping the scooter up to allow it to free wheel. Then he recharges them fully.

marg -- I never panic. When I tore that muscle last week. I just hung on to the porch railing and waited till DH quit mowing out back befor I yelled for help!
beanie -- dysf, I have been volunteering one day a week for 3 months and It was fun, but I was glad when it ended last week.

dysf -- you managed to get hurt on your own porch? I went all the way to europe to get hurt! :-P
marg -- Oh, I was doing a little gardening and just stepped wrong trying to pull some dead leaves of a plant that I couldn't quite reach from the scooter. A BIG no no from the DH.
dysf -- but seriously, hope you're ok now.

beanie -- tst, I've been reading in the paper about Indiana trying to decide on time changes. Last I heard it would be 2006 before anything different happens..?
marg -- Tore the gastroc muscle in my right calf. Physical therapist daughter told me to ice it and elevate.
beanie -- Marg, I hope you heal quickly.dysf, did your accident happen in Europe?
tst -- Yep, beanie, they never can agree about the time change. It's still up for grabs.
marg -- I can put weight on it and walk very carefully. So I am sure it will be all well in a week or so.
dysf -- yes, beanie, it was mishap at the airport in london, flying back from spending the holidays with sole.
cher -- sorry to hear that dysf, as if any accident isn't bad enough, but so far from home too
marg -- Good grief, dysf. That must have been tough to be so far from home in such a situation.
tst -- Marg, did your leg swell up?
dysf -- well, I'm all better now, fortunately! :-)
marg -- Just a little swelling. And it took 4 days for the blood to pull up in the lower calf.
tst -- And are we ever glad to hear it, dysf.
marg -- Your bones have healed well, dysf?

dysf -- and in spite of the horror stories that people sometimes tell about govt. funded health care, the car I got there was good. of course, i did have to pay, since i was just visiting (furtunatly the insurance covered most of it)
beanie -- Geez.Being alone didn't help either. A lady in my quilting group went to Europe last year when her daughter went away to college. She couldn't talk her husband into going so she went by herself (with a tour group) and broke her ankle getting off the bus at the hotel upon arrival. That was all she ever saw of Paris besides the hospital. Glad both of you have that experience behind you.
dysf -- yes, i went back to the ortthopedic dr. last week, and he was ver happy how everything had healed. :-)

tst -- Dysf, it wasn't the same bone you had broken before, was it?
marg -- So happy to hear that dysf. We were all concerned about you.
dysf -- actually, I had a friend along wth me on the trip, and my dad and stepmom happened to be on vacation in the UK at that time, I was just about to meet them at the hotel when the accident happened.
cher -- yes, we had our own little e-mail chain going to make sure we all knew your updates from sole :-)
marg -- Are you able to drive now , dysf?
marg -- Sounds like a little divine intervention was going on, dysf.
tst -- How long did you have to stay in England, dysf?
dysf -- not quite, tst. the place I broke the bone before had a couple pieces of metal put in, so the bone broke in a different place. the other leg broke in the same place as the first one did before. :-)
beanie -- Where is sole tonight?
beanie -- Just make that the last breaks!
dysf -- yes, can drive now. I was in england for a week, then flew back and spent a couple weeks in the hospital here.
cher -- okay dysf, sounds like you've had enough breaks for a lifetime, here's to hoping you stay safe from now on :)
tst -- When you have metal inplants like that, do you have to have something with you to explain when you go through metal detectors at the airports?

tst -- Had an interesting experience today. I am here by myself for a couple of days and am responsible for letting the sheep in and out of the barn, which is at the foot of a hill. I went to ride my scooter down and found that the last person to use it had left it "on". You can guess how much juice it had.
tst -- No lambs until May.
marg -- Would that be 'none, tst. lol
marg -- Late deliveries this year.
marg -- And who was the last person to use it tst?
dysf -- probably just as well, going to the barn to tend the lambs in the snow wouldn't be a lot of fun.
tst -- I had gotten to the barn and was on my way to the mailbox (up another hill) when it occurred to me I needed enough power to get back to the house. I did make it back to the barn (barely).
tst -- Well, marg, it wasn't me!
marg -- And did you have a really long extension cord to get you out of this mess, tst?

marg -- My scooter shuts itself down after a few minutes of standing still. Doesn't yours?
tst -- It meant a walk up the hill to get the battery charger, down the hill to plug it in in the barn, then back up the hill to wait until it charged. And, oh yes, back down the hill to fetch the scooter tonight after the storm.
tst -- No, marge, the battery continues to lose power when the key is in the "on" position, even if the scooter isn't moving.
marg -- Did you meet jack and jill on any of those trips? They maybe would have been able to help you. LOL
dysf -- that's one way to get your exercise, probabaly not the ideal way...

tst -- Well, dysf, I was trying to tell myself that to keep from swearing!

tst -- Well, the rest of the story is that I had just been to the hospital on Wednesday to see if I had broken my leg or had a blood clot from a fall I took last week. It turns out, thankfully, no clot and nothing broken, but my let has really been bothering me A LOT this week.
marg -- Daughter told me for my injury to take an anti inflammatory. 800 of ibuprofen is what a doctor would prescribe.
dysf -- oh wow, tst. that's quite a week you've had. well, glad nothing obvious wrong with the leg, and hope it feels better soon.
beanie -- It has been so nice to be back and to see all of you. I am going to go though as I started getting a toothache today and it is starting to hurt. I just had my 6 mo. checkup and xrays and was told all was fine, so don't know what is going on. Take care. Tst, rest and I hope it quits hurting SOON
tst -- Yep, that's what I take every 4 hours. It does help, as long as I don't miss any doses.
