Medicare Competitive Bidding (H.R.6331)
About This Legislation:
Medicare policy would have included the implementation of a competitive bidding process that would have limited patient vendor selection to one or two preselected equipment vendors. This would have drastically reduced customer service as well as tailoring equipment to an individual’s needs by promoting a ‘one-size-fits-all’ concept of care. MDA successfully advocated for access to medical equipment on which our community depends.
Legislative Support:
The House bill was sponsored by Representative Charles Rangel (D-NY 15th) and had 2 cosponsors, both of whom are Democrats.
Status:
This bill passed Congress and is law.
